Building Goodwill and Community

@username: Use this to build goodwill with others by sending traffic their way. As an example let's say I sent a tweet talking about a new blog post of mine. You follow the link, read the blogpost and think to yourself, "Self, there is really good information in that blogpost." You send a tweet to your followers and you write: @brianadrian has a really good blog post. Your followers will be able to click through to my profile by clicking @brianadrian on that message. OR you can click the arrow (reply button) beside my tweet and @brianadrian will be populated into your update bar.



Direct Messaging (USE SPARINGLY): For more personal communication with your Twitter friends. Only users following you will receive your direct messages.Your followers can view your message on their twitterpage and in their email if they have their setting set to do so.


Homepage Tabs (Under the update button)

-Recent: What people your following are saying.

-Replies: All replies to your posts go here.

-Archive: All your posts are listed here.

-Everyone: See what everyone on twitter is talking about.


Posting Tips

-Be easy and natural.

-Never force a product or service down your followers throats.

-Never retweet the same link over and over again.

-Share quality links you find on twitter if your followers would benefit from them.


In conclusion, treat everyone how you would like to be treated and you will do just fine. Treat Twitter as a long term business tool and don't be discouraged if you can't find the place you "fit in" right away. You will. Stay with it, keep the commitment and you may just find your new best friends.

Twitter how to: Setting up your Twitter account.


When you visit Twitter.com/ you will notice a join for free link at the right side of the page. This will take you to the sign up page where you will make sure you pick a good username that best describes you, your niche or your business. This will help connect you to those people searching for information on your areas of expertise.

-Settings: Type in your website or blog address. Alot of your trafffic will flow through this link. Also create a short bio and be sure to include your name and location.

-Devices: Here you can use your mobile phone to send and receive twitter messages.

-Picture: Make sure you include your picture or an appropriate image of your product or niche.

-Design: Be unique! Load a background image for your homepage to give your profile a custom look and feel. This is a great place to continue your branding.

-Homepage: This is where you will communicate with others. Don't be shy, type in your first update. Let the world know your setting up your Twitter account.

*Note: When you begin following others their posts will appear under your status update box. Beside each post will be a star and an arrow. Favorite a post with the star and reply to a post with the arrow.

-YourProfile: On the right side of the homepage you will notice a button that says your profile. If you click that you can see your page as others see you. You will see your name, location, website and a short bio. In stats next to following is the number of people you are following. The number next to followers is how many people are following you. Under that is how many favorites. The last number in stats counts how many times you have posted in Twitter. Your latest tweets are listed in this section. Click the star to favorite and the trashcan to remove any of your tweets.

Once your Twitter account is set up and looking the way you wish you may want to post a few tweets for practice so your profile doesn't appear unused.

Welcome to the world of Twitter, a micro-blogging or status update platform. Think blogging but mini or micro. Your updates may only be up to 140 characters. When you write a new blogpost, article, or squidoo lens, create a new video or just about anything else, be sure to post the link on Twitter. People will see your tweets or twits (a tweet or twit is an update) and they may click the link you are posting about. You don't even have to log-in to Twitter to post if you use one of the many devices and applications available.


Twitter can help ANYONE do the following:

-Brand yourself, your businesses or your products by fostering market awareness with your twitter postings. Simply by answering questions in your area of expertise you can build a know, like and trust with people you have never met outside of Twitter. Find a niche and dig in! A year from now you want to be heavily entrenched in your market, then when people new to Twitter find you they will know your a leader worth following.

-Stay plugged in! Learn from others. It's a great idea to follow those you wish to learn from. Picking up nuggets of wisdom on Twitter is easy if your following the right people and paying attention to their tweets. You may even be exchanging tweets with future J.V. partners, so behave in a civilized manner. Always remember: you are building relationships for the long haul and you can always find quality services, coaches and trainers in Twitters vast population.

-Build a crescendo of excitement for your new launches by providing content rich posts that keep your followers in step with your launch preparations. Get your followers emotionally involved in the story of your product or launch by letting them participate in review, feedback, product creation or product naming. They will wait in anticipation for your product or service to come to market and be among your first buyers.
